Who We Are
In 2003, SOLFAN Consulting opened up to meet the technological needs of Glen Rose as it was expanding. Soon, as word began spreading about the quality services offered by our company, we expanded into Granbury, Cleburne, and Stephenville. The difference in SOLFAN, is that we will serve you however needed from basic PC repair to complicated networks. We have been known to not only do computer work, we'll help you setup your home theater system, televison or even connect your Wii if you need that type of help. Being in a small area, we're willing to help you do whatever you need done with technology.
We are primarily an on-site support service, but we do meet clients at our small shop next to Terry's Veterinary Clinic by scheduled appointments and perform benchwork there. As bench work is not our primary service, it may take a few days to complete the work there.
James Oliver - Owner
James has been working with computers since childhood when he first got his hands on a TRS-80 computer. After graduating high school, James attended Weatherford Junior College with a Computer Science Major. In 1996, he started attending Tarleton State University as a major in Computer Information Systems. After a year of studies, a job became available at GTE as a Installer Technician as a contracted position through DMR Consulting, which was a subsidiary of Fujitsu.
Within a few months, James learned enough that he was taking on trouble tickets as a Computer Analyst and resolving issues on the floors that GTE leased. Soon, they moved James to a new location that was just acquired by GTE in Grapevine, TX. Here, James helped to setup over 600 computers and trained users on software, took 2nd and 3rd level support tickets as well as trained new technicians. James was sent between different locations to backup and help other technians work loads across in Grapevine, Irving, and Carrollton. He was also part of a conversion team that flew around the United States setting up networks for the WAN of GTE Corporate. He also worked as a team lead on several conversion projects throughout the company installing and imaging thousands of computers.
James was laid off when the IT market crashed around 2000. This lasted until he was hired as a desktop specialist at a real estate advisory company in Dallas. He quickly advanced in this company to not only the senior desktop analyst to doing DBA work as well as having Network responsibilities on servers running Windows 2000 with active directory and exchange. After almost 2 years of driving over 180 miles per day, James left this company to begin SOLFAN (Sick Of Looking For A Name) Consulting in his hometowon of Glen Rose, TX.
Over the last 8 years, James has helped his clients in solving their technological needs in the residential as well as commercial market. He's been the primary IT contact for several businesses in Glen Rose and Granbury and continues to meet new clients all the time. Even in these hard economic times, this business continues to see success because of the quality of support offered.
On a Peronal level, James is a father of 3 children (2 awesome girls and a super cool boy), a husband to his lovely wife Amber, and a believer in Christ. He is a truly blessed man. He has worked for The Promise since 1992 with a few years of breaks here and there. As of the 2010 season, he's the Stage Manager for the production. In downtime, James enjoys PC Gaming and riding his motorcycle.
In 2006, James began studying Internet Marketing and since then, has had tremendous success marketing products on the internet and helping clients get better rankings with their websites for the keywords that are important to them. In 2010, he partnered with a guy in Virginia and founded Monoliver Marketing, LLC. That company has been successful in marketing a variety of products and building leads for companies they are affiliated with.
